Who doesn’t like a quick, easy dessert that really does not need much pampering or baking? Chocolate truffles are excellent to eat, and they are incredibly easy to make. This version contains Oreo cookies and cream cheese and is excellent and makes a lot. What you would need to do first is break up one package of Doublestuf Oreos and put them in a food processor. Add to it 2 packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese and blend together. You can also crush the Oreos and then add the Cream Cheese and mix them in a bowl, however, I have found that blending them together tastes better. While you are at it, you can also throw in a bit more flavouring, like maybe some espresso coffee or mint extract. However, that is totally up to you.
Once the mixture is quite well-blended, put it in a freezer and freeze for half an hour to 45 minutes or so before making the truffles. Now, make 1-inch balls from the mixture and put them on a baking sheet. Place them in the freezer and on the other hand, make your chocolate coating.
To make the chocolate coating, melt one or two packages of Hershey’s melts over a double boiler (that is a fancy name for your chocolate pan put on top of a pan of hot water (where make sure the water does not touch the bottom of your chocolate pan) and then stir thoroughly to melt the chocolate. Using tongs, put your Oreo-cheese balls in the chocolate and coat well. Once coated, remove, and let rest.
At this point you can put your favourite toppings over it. It can be some rainbow sprinkles, or a squirt of cream from your favourite whipped cream dispenser – the choice is entirely up to you. However, the best idea will be to freeze the chocolate after you have topped them with your favourite topping for about 15-20 minutes, so that the chocolate truffle solidifies before serving.
